The Job Shadowing Program is a unique career learning program that connects students with professionals in their respective workplaces. As a host, you actively contribute to educating students about your career field, offering insights into workplace expectations, and highlighting the essential skills, education, and experience required.
Our campus offers more than 250 program options and over 1,150 courses offered annually, attracting students who are interested in Health and Life Sciences; Physical and Environmental Sciences; Political Science; Human Geography; Arts, Culture, and Media; Social Sciences; and more. We particularly need additional shadowing opportunities in healthcare, mental health services, as well as research.
Why Should Hosts Participate?
Introduce students to your field of expertise, promote your organization and brand
Answer questions about your work, education, training, and personal career path
Share information about potential volunteer or employment opportunities for students
Enhance leadership abilities and professional reputation through coaching and mentoring students
Establish connections and explore potential partnerships with the University of Toronto
When does Job Shadowing Occur?
We offer two job shadowing cycles, one in October and another in February. We often customize job shadowing experiences with our hosts to align with their availability.

What Students Are Saying About the Program
"Thank you for offering this amazing experience to students. It has provided me with more clarity about what I wish to do with my career, which I'm not sure I would have accomplished without this fantastic opportunity."
"The placement made me want to work harder to accomplish my goal of becoming a physician and helped me see what I was studying for. The best experience was being able to see the working environment."
"My sponsor was very warm and welcoming, as were the rest of her team members. I felt that I was really able to get a good sense of what her job was like, her day-to-day activities, with no reservations on her part."
