What to bring

Packing tips

  • Label your boxes with your name
  • Pack in boxes or containers that are easy to move
  • Don't overpack! Move in and then assess what you still need to purchase
  • If you are bringing newly purchased items, where possible, remove them from packaging before you arrive

Helpful items to bring:

  • Ear plugs and mask for sleeping
  • Table top fan
  • Personal portable bidet if you use one

  • Candles, incense, halogen lamps, heaters and heat lamps
  • Plug in air fresheners
  • Extra furniture

  • Nails, tacks, masking tape, duct tape, scotch tape or other adhesive products to affix posters to walls

  • Illegal substances, non-prescribed drugs/narcotics, or drug paraphernalia (hookahs, bongs, pipes, vaporizers, etc.)

Toronto is a vibrant city home to almost three million people. There are many things to see, do, and eat in this wonderous city, so be sure and take advantage of them. While we do enjoy warm summers, it is important to remember that it can get very cold in the winter months. On average, winter temperatures are between 鈥5掳C (23掳F) and -20掳C (-4掳F) in the city, and snowstorms are common from December until April. With the wind chill, it can feel even colder than -30掳C (-22掳F)!  

In the winter, it is important to dress in layers so you can keep warm outside and layer down inside. 

Suggested winter clothing items: 

  • Warm winter coat (Label indicates it is fit for 鈥15掳C or colder weather)

  • Waterproof/resistant jacket  

  • Waterproof winter boots 

  • Waterproof rain boots 

  • Thermal underwear/base layers to wear under your sweaters 

  • Warm hat (We call them toques!) 

  • Gloves 

  • Scarves 

  • Sweaters 

  • Long sleeved shirts 

  • Long pants 

  • Plenty of warm socks
