What area(s) of scholarship are you most interested in?
I鈥檓 particularly interested in how racism is entrenched in media narratives and languages in Canada and beyond. I鈥檓 also interested in how marginalized communities engage in counter-discourses that pushback against damaging narratives about these groups in Canadian media.
How did you become interested in that area?
I鈥檓 a journalist who engages in counter-discourse, and became a journalist during my PhD, where I studied discrimination in the workplace.
What course(s) will you be teaching this year?
I鈥檒l be teaching 鈥淔undamentals of Journalistic Writing (JOUB39), Critical Approaches to Style, Form and Narrative (JOUC30)鈥, which is a course centered around innovation in journalism, and the specialist capstone course, JOUD10, where students complete a final journalism project under my supervision.
What are you looking forward to most about joining the 澳门六合彩开奖接口 community?
I鈥檝e been lucky enough to be part of the community for two years already, so am looking forward to deepening my roots and connections in the community and creating some exciting opportunities for student journalists!
What are you reading/watching right now?
I鈥檓 catching up on old seasons of Fargo 鈥 I鈥檓 also a screenwriter in my spare time, and Fargo is a masterclass of acting and writing!
