You’re Invited! Orientation for Pathways to Health Professions Certificate Students 

 

What: Pathway to Health Professions Orientation 

When: Monday September 9, 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  

Doors open at 4:45 pm. 

Where: Highland Hall Event Centre (ground floor of HL) 

 

Welcome incoming UTSC Health Stream students!  

Your Pathway to Health Professions Certificate program offers so much more than coursework and a line on your transcript. In the coming years you will have opportunities to connect and form a community with your peers, network with industry professionals, and enrich your knowledge by attending exclusive lectures, workshops, and events with health-related topics. 

Please join us at our Pathways to Health Professions Orientation on Monday September 9th in the Highland Hall Event Center to learn more about what the program and UTSC has to offer. The event will feature guest speakers from the healthcare community and booths from key university services, student groups, and community health partners! 

Health Sciences swag and light refreshments will be provided: first come, first served!

Liben Gebremikael, CEO TAIBU Community Health Centre

 Liben is the first black male Executive Director of a Community Health Centre in the province. TAIBU Community Health Centre is a multidisciplinary, not-for-profit, community-led organization. It was created to meet the specific healthcare needs of the Black Community across the Greater Toronto Area and has evolved to address all the social determinants of health including education, income, lifestyle, and housing.

Christine Monague, Centre for Wise Practices in Indigenous Health

Christine is an Ojibwe-Pottawatomi-Odawa from G’chi’mnissing (Beausoleil First Nation). As an Indigenous Peer Support and Relations Advocate, she empowers Indigenous community members through culturally relevant support and advocacy. She provides patients and their families with peer support, referrals to Indigenous community partners, facilitation of holistic support including ceremonial/spiritual services with an Elder, collaborative care with community Elders, support care plans and culturally-safe, and timely, access to Indigenous healing medicines.
