Financial Support (MEnvSc)

The MEnvSc program is a professional course-based where students typically self-fund their educational expenses through a variety of programs including a limited number of graduate awards, student loans, student line of credit, and employment income.

Departmental Funding

  • Entrance Scholarships: all domestic applicant who complete their application by the early deadline are considered for this merit-based scholarship on a competitive basis (value = domestic tuition). Recipients will be notified in their offer package (March/April).
  • Think. Shoot. Change. Video Competition: Upon meeting program and competition requirements, winners will receive up to $8,000, applied directly to the recipient鈥檚 University of Toronto Student Account. Applicants need to complete their application by the early deadline and submit the video by April 1.
  • MEnvSc Indigenous Scholarship: Open to incoming First Nations, Inuit and M茅tis students in either the full-time or part-time MEnvSc program who demonstrate academic excellence (value = domestic tuition).
  • MEnvSc Scholarships: available only to new students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada:
  • Mary Winthrop Allen Graduate Student Scholarship in Environmental Science and the Brian Greenwood Graduate Student Scholarship in Environmental Science ($5,000, each) are granted on the basis of the MEnvSc student鈥檚 academic merit and financial need. The award competition opens in the fall term.
  • Asclepias awards (up to $10,000) are awarded based on financial need, only to full-time students who receive OSAP or out-of-province loans. Students are automatically considered in the fall and winter sessions.
  • Research Fellowships: available to students in the Research enrollment option 
  • Internship Relocation awards: open to MEnvSc internship students who need to relocate outside the GTA for their employment. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • MEnvSc Field Trip Travel Award: Up to $2,000 towards the cost of travel for a MEnvSc field course. Available to full-time students (or part-time students registered with Accessibility), granted based on both academic merit and financial need.
