Sharlene Mollett is a critical cultural geographer and political ecologist in the Centre for Critical Development Studies and the Geography Department at the University of Toronto, Scarborough. She positions her work at the entanglements of postcolonial political ecology and Latin American racial studies. Her research interrogates the multiple ways race, gender and poverty inform natural resource conflicts and property rights distribution in the context of international development thought and practice in Honduras and Panama. She has published in scholarly journals including the  Annals of the Association of American Geographers, Latin American Research Review, Gender, Place and Culture, Cultural Geographies, and Geoforum. Sharlene鈥檚 new research project, which builds on the insights from postcolonial and feminist critiques of international development, examines the ways in which indigenous and Afro-descendant women 鈥渇armers鈥 in Panama, Honduras and Ecuador contest, negotiate and acquiesce to 鈥渘ew鈥 paradigms for agricultural development instituted by dominant development thinking and practice in Latin America.
