Dr. Shamim Ahmed holds a Ph.D. in Social and Behavioral Health Sciences from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. As a critical qualitative researcher, his work focuses on intersectionality and neoliberalism, examining under-explored areas in health and social science. His teaching philosophy, inspired by Paulo Freire, emphasizes inclusivity, student engagement, and fostering an empowering learning environment.

With over a decade of experience in the development sector across South Asia and Africa, Dr. Ahmed has worked with international development organizations to improve the lives of marginalized communities. He holds master's degrees in economics and public health, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Sexuality, Culture, and Society from the University of Amsterdam.

In addition to publishing in peer-reviewed journals such as The Lancet, Dr. Ahmed is a reviewer for several health journals. He is also a published author of five poetry books and numerous short stories in Bengali, showcasing his creative and scholarly contributions to both academia and the arts.
